Roseline Njogu Emerges as a Powerful Voice for the Rights and Welfare of Kenyans Abroad<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Principal Secretary, State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline K. Njogu, continues to demonstrate strong and purposeful leadership in advancing the rights, welfare and dignity of Kenyans working and living abroad, as the Government deepens efforts to create safe, regular and orderly labour mobility pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Njogu on Thursday joined government leaders led by H.E. Dr. Hon. Musalia W. Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, for the official opening of the 4th Employment and Labour Relations Annual Symposium and Exhibition (ELRASE IV) at Strathmore University in Nairobi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three-day symposium, themed \u201cLabour Migration and Access to Justice: Strengthening Judicial Responses for Inclusive and Effective Labour Justice Systems,\u201d provides an important platform for stakeholders to examine emerging issues around labour migration and access to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Njogu\u2019s participation underscores the State Department for Diaspora Affairs\u2019 growing role in ensuring that labour mobility translates into meaningful opportunities for Kenyans while safeguarding those seeking employment beyond the country\u2019s borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under her leadership, the State Department has continued to place the interests of Kenyans abroad firmly within the national development conversation, recognising the immense contribution of the diaspora to Kenya\u2019s economy and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Labour mobility presents significant opportunities for Kenyan youth, including access to employment, skills development, professional experience and exposure to international labour markets. However, these opportunities must be matched with strong safeguards against recruitment-related exploitation, contract violations, unsafe working conditions and other forms of abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is where the leadership of Njogu and the State Department becomes particularly significant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Government, strengthening labour mobility goes beyond facilitating access to overseas employment. It also requires ensuring that Kenyans are adequately informed about their rights and responsibilities, have access to appropriate support and can seek assistance whenever they encounter challenges while abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs has a critical role in providing this support and strengthening coordination with relevant institutions to ensure that Kenyans abroad are not left without assistance when they need it most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ELRASE IV symposium comes at an important moment as Kenya continues to strengthen systems that promote safe and orderly labour mobility while protecting workers\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the issues expected to be discussed are labour mobility trends and the future of labour justice; labour mobility in a changing world of work; jurisdiction, sovereignty and cross-border labour disputes; judicial innovation and responsive labour justice systems; judicial approaches to refugees\u2019 right to work in Kenya and comparative jurisdictions; alternative dispute resolution and multi-door justice; international labour standards, human rights and constitutionalism; as well as institutional reform commitments and the future of labour justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Njogu\u2019s presence at the symposium further demonstrates her commitment to ensuring that diaspora affairs remain closely connected to broader national conversations on employment, justice, human rights and economic opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State Department is also participating through an exhibition booth, where attendees can learn more about its mandate, programmes and services, as well as the support available to Kenyans both at home and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition provides another avenue through which the State Department can engage directly with stakeholders, create awareness about available services and strengthen public understanding of the mechanisms available to Kenyans seeking assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With millions of Kenyans pursuing opportunities beyond the country\u2019s borders, the importance of strong diaspora-focused leadership continues to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through her engagement in forums such as ELRASE IV, PS Roseline Njogu is reinforcing the message that the welfare of Kenyans abroad must remain a central consideration in Kenya\u2019s labour mobility agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
