Zamzam Mohamed Takes Firm Stand Against Drugs in Mombasa<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mombasa Woman Representative Zamzam Mohamed has taken a firm stand against drug trafficking and abuse in the county, calling for concerted action by security agencies, leaders, parents and communities to protect young people from the devastating effects of narcotics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zamzam joined Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, fellow Mombasa leaders and security agencies during the destruction of narcotic drugs recently seized in Kenyan waters, using the occasion to reaffirm her commitment to the fight against drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a mother, as a leader, and as a Mombasan, I condemn in the strongest terms possible the trafficking and use of drugs in our county,\u201d Zamzam said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She described narcotics as a serious threat to the future of Mombasa\u2019s youth, warning that drug abuse can destroy families, undermine young people\u2019s aspirations and inflict lasting damage on communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her message was equally direct to drug traffickers operating along the Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMombasa is not your market,\u201d she declared, calling on security agencies and the community to remain vigilant and ensure that those involved in the illegal trade are brought to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Zamzam also stressed that the fight against drugs cannot be left to the Government and security agencies alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She challenged parents to take a more active role in the lives of their children, arguing that prevention begins within families and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her appeal was simple: parents should remain present, communicate openly with their children, create safe environments where young people can speak about their struggles and provide appropriate discipline when necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Government can intercept drugs at sea, but who is watching our children at home?\u201d she asked, highlighting the responsibility of families in preventing young people from falling into drug abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zamzam\u2019s intervention adds a strong community and family dimension to the broader security campaign against narcotics, recognising that enforcement must be complemented by parental guidance, youth support and community vigilance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She commended security agencies for their efforts in intercepting and destroying narcotics, describing the destruction exercise as both a warning to traffickers and an opportunity for Mombasa to renew its commitment to protecting its young population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Zamzam, the message is unequivocal: the fight against drugs is a shared responsibility, and safeguarding Mombasa\u2019s youth requires leaders, security agencies, parents and communities to work together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
