ROSE WANJA APPLAUDS RUTO AS NAIROBI SCHOOL WITNESSES MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE TRANSFORMATION<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NAIROBI \u2014 Nairobi School Board of Management Infrastructure Committee Chairperson Rose Wanja has hailed President William Samoei Ruto for responding to an appeal she made for improved infrastructure at the school, saying the completed projects have transformed the institution and expanded opportunities for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking after the completion of the projects, Wanja said she was overcome with emotion as she reflected on the moment she stood before the President at Nairobi School and used an opportunity to present the institution\u2019s infrastructure needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wanja recalled that she had about ten minutes to make her case alongside the school\u2019s leadership, including the Principal and BOM Chairperson Madam Murigu. Among the requests presented were new dormitories, classrooms, a multipurpose hall and access roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday, I look around and see those requests have become a reality. Here we are, our project is done,\u201d Wanja said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She noted that the expansion has created capacity for an additional 1,000 students, supported the school\u2019s largest Grade 10 intake and helped ease pressure on existing accommodation facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Wanja, students who had previously been housed in wooden structures have also moved into modern facilities, marking a major improvement in the school\u2019s learning and living environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, she said the significance of the moment goes beyond the physical infrastructure, describing it as an example of how leadership and influence can be used to turn community needs into tangible solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wanja recalled that she had raised KSh25 million with parents while serving as Parents Association Chairperson, before seeking an appointment with the Head of State for the groundbreaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also cited advice she received from Elijah Kururia: \u201cThe one who invites the President is the host.\u201d Wanja said the moment gave her an opportunity to speak directly about the needs of the school and advocate for thousands of young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Wanja, that experience has reinforced her belief that influence should be used to build communities, solve problems and create opportunities rather than promote division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also highlighted her role in helping secure sponsorship for a water purification machine at Nairobi School, as well as mobilising support for Mukumu Girls when the institution faced a water-poisoning crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen lives are at stake, influence must become action,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wanja challenged people with public platforms to consider how they use their influence, asking what problems their voices can help solve and who can benefit from the opportunities they create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said she wants her legacy to be defined by service, solutions, courage and opening doors for the next generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI do not want a legacy of noise. I do not want a legacy of complaints. I do not want a legacy of division. I want a legacy of service. A legacy of solutions. A legacy of courage. A legacy of opening doors for the next generation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wanja said the Nairobi School project represents more than buildings, describing it as a demonstration of what can happen when advocacy is translated into action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet it be remembered that when Rose Wanja was given the microphone, she used it to build,\u201d she said, expressing gratitude to President Ruto for listening to the school\u2019s appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is more than buildings. This is impact. This is service. This is influence with purpose. This is my legacy. And I am only getting started,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
