The reports are false and misrepresent the outcome of parliament consideration of the Elections (Amendment) (No2) Bill, 2024
The fact of the matter is that the Elections (Amendment) (No 2)Bill, 2024 (Senate Bill, No 29 of 2024), was introduced in the National Assembly on 13th February 2025,having originated from the Senate.

The Bill was among those associated with the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) process during the Bill’s consideration, petitions were filed in the high Court challenging the constitutionality of Section 39 of the Elections Act, which provides for the management and transmission of election results, including their livestreaming by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

On Thursday, 22nd October 2026,the national Assembly considered the Bill and deleted clause 22,which had proposed replacing section 39 of the Elections Act before passing as directed by the high Court. Consequently, section 39 remains in force without the proposed changes to remove livestreaming. The claim that Parliament has abolished the mandatory livestreaming of elections results is therefore false.

The public and the media are urged to verify information against official parliamentary records, court decisions, and applicable law prior to sharing it. Responsible reporting and the rejection of misinformation are essential to maintaining public confidence in the electoral process.

Excessive Felling of tress on the Aberdares forest

There have been complaints in the past week about alleged excessive tree felling and deforestation in the Aberdares Ecosystem. The Aberdares Ecosystem covers the counties of Nyandarua and Muranga as well as parts of Kiambu. The fact of the matter is that there are commercial trees which had reached maturity and rotation age. Many trees in these commercial had developed heavy weight and heart rot and were therefore falling, leading to commercial loss. The forest department allowed the harvesting of mature commercial Cyprus trees at Geta forest station, compartment 8A and keriita forest station in Kiambu and Nyandarua counties, respectively. This was done through online applications by qualified sawmillers in accordance with Public Procurement and disposal Act.

All three sawmillers awarded are locals from the three counties of the central region of Kenya within the Aberdares Ecosytstem.

There are immediate plans to set up plantations during the short rains using the Plantation Establishment and Livelihood Improvement Scheme (PELIS). This plan helps locals grow crops frothier own use and for sale for three years, until the trees form a full canopy. “In this case, a member of parliament has taken the government to court in Ol Kalou, and the process has been paused for two weeks while the court decides. The government shall remain compliant to the rule of law”. Mr. Charles told journalists in his media briefing today.

Eastleigh building collapse Tragedy

Following the unfortunate collapse of a building on 9th street, First Avenue in Esatleigh, the rescue operation continues.
