Eng. Silas Kinoti Shines on Continental Stage with Prestigious Engineering Award

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) Director General Eng. Silas Kinoti, EBS, continues to distinguish himself as an accomplished engineering professional and visionary leader following his recognition with the prestigious Corporate Engineering Industry Award in the Gold Category.

The award, organised by the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, celebrates Eng. Kinoti’s demonstrated excellence, professional distinction and outstanding contribution to the engineering profession, placing his achievement on a continental platform.

The recognition is a powerful testament to his professional competence, dedication to engineering excellence and commitment to transforming Kenya’s urban road infrastructure through quality, innovation and effective leadership.

The KURA Board celebrated the achievement at Barabara Plaza, where the award was presented to Eng. Kinoti by Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) President Eng. Harrison Keter.

For Eng. Kinoti, the honour represents more than an individual professional milestone. It reflects the growing reputation of KURA as a key institution in Kenya’s infrastructure development agenda and the value of strong technical leadership in delivering public infrastructure that serves the needs of citizens.

His recognition on the continental stage underscores the importance of professionalism, expertise and a results-oriented approach in advancing the engineering sector.

As Director General, Eng. Kinoti has continued to provide leadership within an institution entrusted with the development, maintenance and management of urban roads, an essential component of the country’s transport network and economic infrastructure.

Urban roads play a critical role in connecting communities, supporting businesses, improving access to essential services and facilitating the movement of people and goods. Delivering reliable infrastructure in this environment requires technical expertise, sound planning and a firm commitment to quality standards.

Eng. Kinoti’s recognition highlights the significance of these responsibilities and the value of leadership that places engineering excellence at the centre of public service.

His achievement also offers an inspiring example to engineers and emerging professionals, demonstrating that dedication to professional standards and the pursuit of excellence can earn recognition beyond national borders.

The Gold Category award further enhances KURA’s institutional profile, reinforcing its commitment to professional integrity, innovation and the delivery of urban road infrastructure that improves mobility, promotes safety and contributes to Kenyans’ quality of life.

In another demonstration of the technical expertise within the Authority, Eng. Doreen Kirima was also recognised for outstanding excellence in engineering.

Her achievement, alongside Eng. Kinoti’s continental honour, reflects the depth of professional talent within KURA and the importance of nurturing a workforce capable of meeting the country’s evolving infrastructure needs.

The recognition of the two engineers provides a strong endorsement of the expertise and professionalism that underpin the Authority’s work.

For the KURA Board, celebrating the achievements is an opportunity to acknowledge exceptional professional contributions while reinforcing the institution’s commitment to innovation, accountability and high engineering standards.

Eng. Kinoti’s award is a proud moment for KURA and Kenya’s engineering fraternity. It affirms the value of experienced technical leadership in strengthening public institutions and advancing infrastructure development.

As Kenya continues to invest in urban infrastructure to support growing populations and economic activity, the need for competent engineering leadership remains paramount.

Eng. Kinoti’s continental recognition places him among professionals whose work and contribution to engineering excellence have earned distinguished acknowledgement, while inspiring continued commitment to quality and professionalism in public service.

His achievement is a fitting celebration of engineering excellence and a reminder that strong leadership, technical competence and dedication to national development remain essential ingredients in building infrastructure that serves present and future generations.
