Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) Director General Eng. Silas Kinoti has hailed the Greenpark Underpass project in Nairobi as a shining example of modern, people-centered urban development. Speaking during an inspection of the site, Eng. Kinoti praised the government and its implementing partners for the remarkable progress, with the project now standing at over 90 percent completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Greenpark Underpass, a national government initiative spearheaded by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) in partnership with the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), is designed to ease congestion and redefine commuter experience in one of the city\u2019s busiest corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eng. Kinoti emphasized that the project symbolizes a broader vision for safe, efficient, and inclusive transport systems. \u201cOur goal as road agencies is to create modern spaces that serve every Nairobi resident with dignity and reliability. The Greenpark Underpass embodies this vision,\u201d he affirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facility is being equipped with modern walkways, retail outlets, lifts, escalators, and restrooms, all secured with round-the-clock surveillance. This blend of functionality and safety is expected to position it as one of Nairobi\u2019s most advanced transit corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kinoti particularly lauded the project\u2019s inclusivity features, noting that the provision of lifts and escalators will ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and parents with young children. \u201cThis is what it means to build infrastructure for people, not just vehicles,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further noted that the incorporation of retail spaces within the underpass will provide fresh opportunities for micro and small businesses, reinforcing the link between transport development and economic empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
