Over 50 bright but vulnerable Mukuru students are appealing for financial support to support their education programme.
The Mukuru Students are targeting Transition to Grade 10 in 2026
The project -Oasis of Hope under the guidance of founder and Director Erick Ambuche target bright students
into Senior Secondary School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slums Outreach Programme (SOP), a grassroots Community-Based Organization based in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, has announces a call for partnership to support 50 academically gifted but vulnerable students to transition into Grade 10 in January 2026 under its flagship education initiative, Oasis of Hope. Two-thirds of the beneficiaries are girls, affirming SOP\u2019s commitment to gender equity and the empowerment of young women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOP is recognized for transformative community work across Education, Climate Action, and Drug and Substance Abuse Prevention. Since its inception during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, SOP has emerged as a trusted community anchor, mentoring and supporting learners who now serve as role models in Mukuru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite strong academic performance, many learners in Mukuru Kwa Njenga face exclusion from secondary education due to poverty. The transition to Senior Secondary School under Kenya\u2019s Competency-Based Education (CBE) presents added costs, fees, uniforms, and learning materials, placing quality education beyond reach for many Mukuru families, particularly affecting girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project Goal include
ensuring access, transition, and retention in Senior Secondary Education for 50 bright but vulnerable students (34 girls, 16 boys) from Mukuru Kwa Njenga from 2026\u20132028 (Grades 10\u201312).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Interventions include Bi-annual monitoring and community engagement,
Environmental stewardship through SOP\u2019s Miti Ni Uhai (each student plants and nurtures a tree annually)
Total project cost (3 years)ksh.13,387,500 which is equivalent to
USD 103,794.57<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOP invites corporate partners, development agencies, philanthropists, and well-wishers to collaborate in breaking cycles of poverty, promoting gender equity, and nurturing future leaders from one of Nairobi\u2019s most underserved bi communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
