Thousands Join Kakenya’s Dream Charity Walk to Champion Girls\u2019 Education and Health<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nairobi, Saturday, May 9, 2026<\/strong> \u2014 Hundreds of Kenyans turned out in Nairobi and Enoosaen in Kilgoris, Narok County, for the Kakenya Charity Walk, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness and support for girls\u2019 education, health, and leadership development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held under the theme \u201cSteps Toward Change,\u201d<\/strong> the event brought together students, parents, community leaders, development partners, and corporate sponsors in a show of solidarity for vulnerable girls facing barriers to education and wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants walked through designated routes in both Nairobi and Enoosaen, carrying banners and placards calling for increased investment in girls\u2019 empowerment and an end to practices that hinder girls from achieving their full potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organisers said the walk sought to mobilise resources to support programmes that keep girls in school, provide access to healthcare, and nurture future women leaders in marginalised communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the event, Dr. Kakenya Ntaiya, Founder and President of Kakenya’s Dream, said empowering girls through education remains one of the most effective ways to transform communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery step taken today represents hope for a girl who deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead,\u201d said Dr. Ntaiya. \u201cWhen we invest in girls, we invest in stronger families, healthier communities, and a brighter future for Kenya.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

She noted that many girls in rural areas continue to face challenges including poverty, limited access to sanitary products, early marriages, and harmful cultural practices that interrupt their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur mission is to ensure that girls not only stay in school but also thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This walk is a reminder that collective action can create lasting change,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In Nairobi, participants gathered early in the morning at the city\u2019s recreational grounds before embarking on a symbolic walk through key streets, accompanied by music, entertainment, and messages advocating for equal opportunities for girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, in Enoosaen, local residents, teachers, and students marched together in a community-led procession that highlighted the importance of grassroots involvement in protecting and educating girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several young beneficiaries of the programmes shared testimonies of how mentorship and educational support had enabled them to remain in school and pursue their ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community leaders in Narok County praised the initiative for helping reduce school dropouts among girls and encouraging parents to prioritise education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organisers said proceeds from the charity walk will go toward scholarships, school supplies, health programmes, mentorship initiatives, and leadership training for girls in underserved communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the event concluded, participants pledged continued support for initiatives that advance the rights and welfare of girls across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
