Kilifi Partners with Swahilipot Hub to Empower Youth Through Five-Year Deal

Kilifi County Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule has reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to youth empowerment, innovation and job creation following the signing of a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swahilipot Hub Foundation.

The agreement, signed during the official opening of the 7th Pwani Innovation Week, seeks to strengthen collaboration between the county government and the innovation hub in creating opportunities for young people to develop their skills, establish businesses and access employment.

The partnership will focus on skills development, apprenticeships, mentorship, market access and enterprise support, with the aim of equipping young people with the knowledge and resources needed to turn their talents and innovative ideas into sustainable livelihoods.

Chibule said strengthening partnerships that empower young people and stimulate economic growth remains a key priority for the Kilifi County Government.

She noted that investing in youth-led innovation and entrepreneurship is essential to expanding economic opportunities, supporting enterprise development and unlocking the potential of young people across the county.

The collaboration is expected to provide a platform for emerging innovators and entrepreneurs to access mentorship, practical experience and business support, helping them translate creative ideas into solutions that address community challenges.

The agreement also underscores the importance of collaboration between county governments and innovation-focused institutions in addressing youth unemployment and promoting inclusive economic development.

As Swahilipot Hub Foundation celebrates a decade of promoting innovation and youth empowerment, Chibule commended Chief Mentor Mahmood Noor and the entire Swahilipot community for their contribution to nurturing talent and creating opportunities for young people.

She said the county government looks forward to deepening its partnership with the foundation to ensure more young people benefit from initiatives that promote creativity, entrepreneurship and employability.

The 7th Pwani Innovation Week provides a platform for innovators, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to exchange ideas, showcase solutions and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Through the five-year agreement, Kilifi County is seeking to strengthen the link between innovation, skills development and economic opportunity, positioning young people as active participants in the county’s development.

The partnership reflects a broader commitment to creating an enabling environment where young people can transform their ideas into viable enterprises, generate income and contribute to sustainable community development.
