Limuru MP Eng. John Kiragu Chege Commends Progress at Limuru Technical and Vocational College

Limuru Member of Parliament, Eng. John Kiragu Chege, has lauded the impressive strides made by Limuru Technical and Vocational College (Kamandura), describing the institution as a beacon of opportunity for the youth and a key driver of future skills development.

During a visit on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the legislator, accompanied by the Board of Governors, conducted an impact assessment of the college’s ongoing projects and academic growth. The tour revealed significant milestones, including the completion of a three-phase electricity connection, ongoing perimeter fencing for improved security, and the rollout of plans for a modern hostel with a capacity of more than 500 students.

The college has also expanded its academic portfolio by introducing both short- and long-term courses, ensuring learners have a wider range of career paths to choose from. Notably, bursaries worth Ksh. 1,556,000 have already been awarded to support local students. Despite a significant increase in student enrolment, Eng. Kiragu encouraged more Form Four leavers to apply and take advantage of the opportunities available.

He further emphasized the importance of aligning new courses with the needs of the local community, noting that certifications such as Local Purchase Order (LPO) qualifications would better prepare graduates to meet industry demands.

The highlight of his tour was the hospitality department, whose elegant setups and exquisite meals left a lasting impression. “The quality of training here is world-class. The students’ talent is good enough to serve both local and high-end meetings. As a sign of support, I will be holding my meetings at the school’s restaurant,” he remarked.
