
Kiambu County, Kenya — Kiambu County Woman Representative Hon. Ann Wamuratha has reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots empowerment through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), distributing equipment and tools to support youth and women groups in Thamanda, Sigona Ward, Kikuyu Constituency.
The initiative, part of the NGAAF Empowerment Programme, seeks to strengthen self-reliance and promote sustainable livelihoods among local communities.
Beneficiaries of the program included:
✅ Thakiki Welfare Group – Received a tent and 100 chairs to support community events and income-generating ventures.
✅ Youth car wash groups – Received modern car wash machines to enhance efficiency and create employment opportunities.
✅ Salon operators – Benefited from UV machines, hair dryers, and blow dryers to improve service delivery and expand business capacity.
✅ Bodaboda riders – Received motorbike umbrellas to enhance safety and comfort on the road.
✅ Barbers – Equipped with shaving machines to support small grooming enterprises.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Hon. Wamuratha emphasized that every tool provided was a “seed of growth and a symbol of empowerment.” She reiterated her office’s continued support for initiatives that build self-reliant and economically empowered communities across Kiambu County.
“Together, we are building a thriving Kiambu where every youth, woman, and community group has the means to transform their future,” she said.
