Hon. Abdul Haro Kore Intensifies Power Connectivity Efforts in Mandera South

ELWAK, MANDERA COUNTY — The office of the Member of Parliament for Mandera South, Hon. Abdul Haro Kore, has stepped up efforts to expand access to reliable electricity across the constituency, with teams currently on the ground in Elwak Town replacing ageing wooden poles with durable concrete ones.

The upgrade marks a major stride in modernising the local power infrastructure and enhancing safety and reliability for residents and businesses.

In recent months, access to electricity in Mandera South has improved significantly, with Wargadud and Shimbir Fatuma towns successfully connected and now fully powered—an achievement that has been widely welcomed by the community.

Hon. Haro Kore confirmed that several mini-grid projects are at various stages of implementation across *six off-grid locations, including *Elele, El-Ram, Garsesala, Fincharo, Nyat Alio, and Qalanqalesa. These projects aim to ensure that even remote settlements gain access to clean and dependable energy, supporting education, trade, healthcare, and security.

Additionally, plans for Last Mile Connectivity are underway in multiple areas within the constituency, with expectations that more households and institutions will soon be connected to the national grid. Power supply in Kotulo is also set for a major improvement in the near future, In Sha Allah.

Hon. Haro Kore reaffirmed his commitment to delivering equitable development and improving living standards for all residents of Mandera South.
