PS Susan Auma Mang’eni Hosts AMFI-Kenya, Highlights Kenya’s Progress in Financial Inclusion
Principal Secretary, State Department for MSME Development, *Ms. Susan Auma Mang’eni, today hosted a delegation from the *Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kenya (AMFI-Kenya) led by its Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Caroline Karanja, for discussions on Kenya’s progress in advancing financial inclusion.
The meeting underscored the critical role microfinance institutions continue to play in expanding access to affordable financial services for millions of Kenyans, particularly MSMEs and underserved communities.
Ms. Mang’eni commended AMFI-Kenya for its remarkable growth and impact under the wise and visionary leadership of Ms. Karanja, noting that the association has expanded exponentially and strengthened the microfinance sector’s contribution to national development. She expressed prayers for God’s continued blessings upon Ms. Karanja as she leads the institution to even greater heights.
During the engagement, the Principal Secretary showcased the transformative impact of the *Hustler Fund, highlighting that the innovative model has enabled *over 26 million Kenyans to build a credit history while cultivating a strong savings culture. She noted that this foundation significantly improves beneficiaries’ eligibility to access credit from mainstream financial institutions, including microfinance institutions.
“The Hustler Fund has fundamentally changed how Kenyans interact with credit and savings, creating pathways for inclusion and financial empowerment at scale,” Ms. Mang’eni said.
Looking ahead, the State Department for MSME Development reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with partners such as AMFI-Kenya to strengthen collaboration in data-driven credit scoring, aimed at enhancing trust, reducing risk, and building a more inclusive and resilient financial ecosystem for all Kenyans.
