
CS Alice Wahome Hails Affordable Housing and Market Projects as Game Changers for Kenya
Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has described the Affordable Housing Programme and modern market projects under President William Ruto’s administration as transformative initiatives that will leave a lasting impact on Kenya for generations.According to the CS, the projects go beyond providing shelter and trading spaces, saying they are creating jobs, restoring dignity, stimulating local economies and opening up new opportunities for thousands of Kenyan families across the country.
Speaking during President William Samoei Ruto’s visit to Galole Constituency in Tana River County, Alice Wahome noted that the government remains fully committed to delivering meaningful development projects that directly improve the lives of ordinary wananchi.
During the visit, President Ruto laid the foundation stone for the Mapenzi Affordable Housing Project and later inspected the near-complete Hola ESP Market, two landmark projects expected to boost grassroots economic growth and uplift livelihoods in the region.The Mapenzi Affordable Housing Project will feature key amenities including a clubhouse, kindergarten, gatehouse, garbage receptacle, boundary wall, powerhouse, residential and external parking, septic tank, landscaping and other associated civil works designed to provide residents with a modern and dignified living environment.
At the same time, the Hola ESP Market project will include a modern market block, ablution facilities, waste cubicle, borehole and septic tank to ensure traders operate in a clean, safe and conducive business environment.Alice Wahome emphasized that such investments reflect the government’s broader vision of inclusive development, economic empowerment and improved living standards for communities across Kenya.Residents and local leaders welcomed the projects, saying they are expected to create employment opportunities, support small businesses and accelerate development in Tana River County.
