Rebecca Miano Champions Education and Infrastructure Growth at Nyandarua High School

Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Hon. Rebecca Miano, EGH, joined Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba at the 2026 Nyandarua High School Education Day, where she praised the institution’s unique identity as Kenya’s only mixed national secondary school and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening education infrastructure in the region.

Speaking during the event, Miano noted that the school’s mixed setting reflects the realities of the professional world, where men and women must coexist, compete and lead through competence, discipline and mutual respect. She encouraged students to embrace integrity, resilience and good character alongside academic excellence, saying success in life demands far more than impressive grades.

The Tourism CS congratulated students, teachers and parents for the school’s continued achievements, describing Nyandarua High School as a symbol of unity, inclusivity and national progress.

Miano also highlighted a series of development projects set to transform the institution under the government’s support. These include the construction of a new administration block, an ablution block for girls, the provision of 100 computers for learners, tarmacking of the 800-metre access road to the school, and the construction of a perimeter fence to enhance security.

In addition, she welcomed plans for a partnership with the school’s alumni to acquire a Scania school bus, saying the initiative would improve student mobility and support school activities.

Demonstrating her personal commitment to the school’s growth, Miano pledged to construct a bus shed requested by the local community, saying the move forms part of broader efforts to uplift educational standards and development in Nyandarua County.

The event brought together education stakeholders, government officials, parents and students in a celebration of academic achievement and the transformative role of education in national development.
