PRESIDENT RUTO LAUNCHES NATIONAL CONVERSATION TO SHAPE KENYA’S FUTURE BEYOND VISION 2030

President William Samoei Ruto on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, presided over the launch of the National Conversation on Kenya’s Future Beyond Vision 2030 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, setting in motion a broad-based process to shape the country’s next long-term development blueprint.

The national conversation comes as Kenya approaches the conclusion of the Vision 2030 implementation period, providing an opportunity for the country to reflect on the achievements, challenges and lessons of the past two decades while collectively identifying the aspirations and priorities that should guide Kenya beyond 2030.

The process brings together citizens and multi-sectoral stakeholders from across the country, creating a platform for Kenyans to contribute ideas and shape the nation’s development trajectory.

The launch follows President Ruto’s Special National Address of July 30, 2026, during which he called for what he described as “the most consequential national conversation since the adoption of the Constitution in 2010.”

The President emphasised that the people-driven conversation should not be viewed as a one-off event, but as the beginning of a sustained, inclusive and consultative national process.

Ideas, perspectives and recommendations emerging from the engagements will help inform the development of Kenya’s next long-term development blueprint.

The conversation will also examine emerging trends likely to influence Kenya’s future, including rapid technological advancement, demographic changes, climate change, regional integration and shifts in the global economic and geopolitical landscape.

These issues are expected to shape discussions on how Kenya can build a resilient, inclusive and competitive economy capable of responding to emerging opportunities and challenges in the decades ahead.

The Chairman of the Vision 2030 Delivery Board highlighted the achievements and progress made during the implementation of Kenya Vision 2030 and called on Kenyans from all walks of life to actively participate in the national conversation.

He urged citizens to share their experiences, aspirations and ideas and contribute meaningfully to determining the country’s development direction beyond Vision 2030.

The National Conversation therefore marks a significant moment in Kenya’s development journey, providing an opportunity to evaluate where the country has come from while building consensus around where it should go next.

At the heart of the process is the principle that Kenya’s future must be shaped through broad citizen participation, informed debate and shared national aspirations.

The Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat, which is organising the process, said it remains committed to upholding the National Values and Principles of Governance as provided for under Article 10(2) of the Constitution of Kenya.

As Kenya looks beyond Vision 2030, the national conversation is expected to provide a platform for citizens, policymakers, professionals, private-sector players, development partners and other stakeholders to help shape a shared vision for the country’s next chapter.

The process ultimately seeks to ensure that Kenya’s next long-term development blueprint reflects the aspirations of its people and responds effectively to the realities and opportunities that will define the country in the decades ahead.
