Nairobi, Kenya – Wednesday, November 12, 2025:
Specially Elected Senator Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga has expressed her delight at participating in the opening of the World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) 11th General Assembly, held in Nairobi.
The global forum brings together legislators who are current or former Scouts, united by a shared commitment to promoting the values of leadership, service, integrity, peacebuilding, and civic responsibility within parliamentary and policy processes.
Senator Okenyuri noted that the 11th General Assembly is taking place at a critical moment when the world is working toward the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing pressing global challenges such as climate change, socio-economic transformation, and inclusive growth.
“Scouting embodies values like integrity, innovation, and sustainability. These principles are essential in guiding legislative efforts that seek to create a better, more equitable, and resilient world,” said Senator Okenyuri.
She further emphasized Kenya’s strategic role as a neutral base for global parliamentary dialogue, providing a platform where lawmakers can collaborate on how best to leverage legislative influence to advance the SDGs, strengthen climate action, and support the creative economy.
The Assembly also offers a strategic platform for experience-sharing and cooperation among WSPU chapters worldwide, aimed at fostering partnerships and practical pathways to address emerging global issues through the lens of scouting values.
