Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u Reflects on a Grateful 2025 as She Sets Her Sights on Greater Impact in 2026

NAIROBI, Kenya — As 2025 draws to a close, I pause with a heart full of gratitude and reflection. This year has been both defining and transformative for me—marked by faith, recognition, and purposeful leadership within Kenya’s education and skills development sector through my service as National Chairperson of the Kenya National Association of Private Colleges (KENAPCO).

For me, 2025 was not shaped merely by visible achievements or public milestones, but by divine guidance, unseen favor, and a deepened sense of calling.

I am grateful that God has never left me nor forsaken me. He has walked with me throughout 2025, and every milestone I celebrate is anchored in faith and obedience to purpose.

The Awards That Defined My 2025

While the year brought many moments of affirmation, three recognitions stood out as defining highlights of my journey and service:

Receiving the Laureate Youth Award during a prestigious United Nations Dinner was deeply humbling. It affirmed my lifelong commitment to youth empowerment, leadership development, and the belief that young people must be given equitable opportunities to rise and lead.

Being named TVET Champion of the Year reinforced my conviction that Technical and Vocational Education and Training is central to Kenya’s economic transformation. This recognition strengthened my resolve to continue restoring dignity to skills, employability, and hands-on excellence.

The Inspiring Public Speaker of the Year Award reminded me of the power of voice—how words, when spoken with truth and purpose, can shift mindsets, influence policy, and inspire transformation across institutions and communities.

I receive these honors not as symbols of status, but as testimonies of service. Many of the doors that opened this year did so even when I was not physically present.

Angels whispered my name in rooms I never entered. God allowed people not to forget me.

My Faith-Driven Outlook for 2026

As I look toward 2026, my posture is prayerful and intentional. My vision for the year ahead is centered on relevance, remembrance, and refinement.

My prayer is that God will activate the spirit of remembrance—that destiny helpers will remain aligned to purpose, and that opportunities will open at the appointed time. I ask God to sharpen my skills, deepen my wisdom, and refine my discernment, so that every engagement becomes transformative—touching families, communities, institutions, nations, and even critics.

May God make me too relevant to be ignored. He is the Potter; I am the clay.

Breaking Barriers With Gratitude

I remain deeply grateful to those who describe me as a leader with a heart of gold, uncommon resilience, and unwavering ambition. Through KENAPCO, I have continued to break barriers in education leadership—advocating for quality, accountability, innovation, and fairness within private education and TVET institutions.

Gratitude anchors my leadership. Purpose fuels it. My focus remains clear: to shape a future where skills are honored, institutions are strengthened, and young people are equipped to compete, contribute, and lead meaningfully in national development.

Reflecting on 2025: Lessons, Transitions, and Legacy

Beyond accolades, I view 2025 as a crucible of transformation. It carried transitions, breakthroughs, and quiet lessons of resilience that only reflection reveals. I have learned to honor both the milestones celebrated publicly and the hidden seeds of legacy planted through perseverance and faith.

Gratitude and Celebration

2025 gave me moments of undeniable triumph—families reunited, institutions restored, and communities rediscovering hope. Gratitude became my anchor, reminding me that even in uncertainty, favor and provision were never absent. Celebration, I learned, is not indulgence; it is recognition of divine faithfulness meeting human endurance.

Lessons and Growth

The challenges of this year—economic shifts, social transitions, and personal trials—were my teachers. They taught me resilience, reframed grief as redirection, and redefined discipline as empowerment. My growth was not measured only by achievements, but by the wisdom gained navigating complexity with dignity and integrity.

Relationships and Impact

2025 reaffirmed the power of relationships. I watched mentors activate purpose, parents reframe discipline as legacy, and civic leaders restore dignity to vocational skills. Impact multiplied beyond personal success. I continually ask myself: Whose life was touched because I showed up? How did my presence multiply legacy?

Transitions and Letting Go

This year demanded honorable exits—releasing wasted seasons, outdated structures, and burdens that no longer served destiny. Letting go required courage, but it created space for clarity. I learned that only through release can one step into a new season unencumbered and prepared.

Vision and Activation

Reflection finds completion in vision. As 2026 approaches, the lessons of 2025 form the foundation for activation—writing goals, speaking declarations, building institutions, empowering generations, and restoring honor in public life. Vision ensures that the past is not wasted, but redeemed and transformed into momentum.

Conclusion

In its fullness, 2025 was a year of resilience, redirection, and restoration for me. It reminded me that gratitude sustains, lessons refine character, relationships multiply influence, transitions liberate destiny, and vision activates legacy.

As I step into 2026, I do so carrying wisdom, humility, and renewed resolve—committed not merely to success, but to a legacy that endures and transforms generations.
