The Nairobi Hospital marked World Kidney Day 2026 with a community-focused event, offering free kidney screenings and health checks to promote early detection and prevention of kidney disease. The event, themed “Kidney Health for All – Caring for People, Protecting the Planet,” aimed to raise awareness about the growing burden of kidney-related illnesses in Kenya and globally.
The event was well-received by attendees, who appreciated the opportunity to assess their kidney health and receive expert advice. “I had no idea my blood pressure was high,” said one participant. “This screening has saved me.!
The Nairobi Hospital’s initiative reflects its commitment to preventive healthcare and public education, particularly in addressing the rising burden of non-communicable diseases in Kenya. By bridging the gap between healthcare institutions and the community, such outreach programs encourage proactive care and early medical intervention.
