Koskei and Esther Ngari Champion Technology and Leadership for Africa’s Quality Revolution
The Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, has challenged African nations to leverage technology as a key driver of product quality and global competitiveness. Speaking in Mombasa while officially opening the three-day 5th Regional Quality Conference organized by the Kenya Bureau of Standards, Koskei highlighted how digital transformation is redefining quality management across industries.
He noted the critical role of artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, digital traceability systems, and smart manufacturing technologies in enabling organizations to monitor quality in real time, identify risks early, and continuously improve processes. “The firms that integrate these technologies today will define the industrial leaders of tomorrow,” he stated, emphasizing that technology is no longer optional for nations and firms aiming to compete globally.
The conference, themed “Future by Design: Shaping Leadership, Technology, and Culture for Regional Resilience,” brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and quality experts from across the region to explore innovative approaches to strengthening standards and resilience.
Under the visionary leadership of KEBS Managing Director, Esther Ngari, Kenya is already making strides toward this future. Speaking at the same event, Ngari emphasized that the future of quality will not rely on inspection alone but on systems, strategic leadership, technology-enabled real-time assurance, and a culture that makes excellence habitual, not exceptional.
Her leadership has transformed KEBS into a strategic partner for national and regional growth, ensuring that Kenyan products and services meet global benchmarks. By integrating technology, fostering a culture of excellence, and treating quality as a strategic priority, Ngari is positioning Kenya as a model for innovation and industrial competitiveness across Africa.
The combined message from Koskei and Ngari is clear: Africa’s future in quality assurance and industrial leadership lies in embracing technology, strategic leadership, and a culture of continuous improvement. Their vision promises a new era where African industries are not only competitive but resilient and globally respected.
