TECNO Picks Up Two IFA Innovation Awards for Modular Phone and TAURUS Gaming PC

TECNO has received two Gold awards at the IFA Global Product Technology Innovation Awards, adding to the Chinese technology company’s growing list of international recognitions for its work in consumer electronics.

The awards went to two very different products. The Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS, also known as the MEGA MINI G1 Pro, won the Miniaturized Gaming PC Technology Innovation Gold Award, while the TECNO Modular Phone received the Ultra Slim Magnetic Modular Technology Innovation Gold Award.

The recognition comes as TECNO continues to expand beyond the smartphones that have made its Camon, Spark and POVA series familiar to consumers in markets such as Kenya.

The awards programme, established in 2014 by IDG, IFA and DIHK, recognises products and technologies judged to have made notable advances in consumer electronics, particularly in areas such as design, technology and usability.

TECNO Modular Phone pushes slim design further

The TECNO Modular Phone was recognised for its slim construction and magnetic modular system.

The phone measures just 4.9mm thick, with TECNO describing it as the world’s thinnest modular smartphone.

Instead of relying on conventional ports, the device uses the company’s Modular Magnetic Interconnection Technology. The system combines a precision magnetic array with pogo pin connectors, allowing different modules to be attached to the handset.

TECNO says the platform supports 10 high-performance modules designed for different uses.

The main phone carries a battery of between 3,000mAh and 4,000mAh, while connected modules can draw power directly from the device. This allows users to attach and remove accessories without relying on traditional physical connections.

The phone also uses a portless unibody design and has an IP rating for resistance against dust and water.

TECNO is positioning the device as a possible hardware platform for personal artificial intelligence assistants. The idea is to provide additional computing capability without making the handset substantially larger.

The concept has already attracted attention outside the IFA awards. TECNO says the Modular Phone has received more than 20 recognitions from international technology and design publications.

CNET and Yanko Design included the device among their Best of MWC 2026 selections, while The Verge named it the Best Mobile Tech at MWC 2026.

The company says the Modular Phone is expected to enter mass production, although details on its final commercial availability and pricing have not been announced.

For Kenyan consumers, that will be an important detail to watch, particularly given TECNO’s established presence in the local smartphone market.

TAURUS combines gaming performance with luxury design

The second Gold award went to the Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS, a compact gaming PC developed with the Italian luxury brand Tonino Lamborghini.

The machine, also known as the MEGA MINI G1 Pro, has a volume of about 6.36 litres, making it one of the smaller gaming PCs to use a water-cooling system.

Its vertical chassis features a transparent panoramic window, giving the internal components a prominent place in the overall design.

The partnership with Tonino Lamborghini also gives the machine a different look from conventional gaming PCs, which often focus heavily on aggressive styling and lighting.

Under the exterior, the computer is built around an Intel Core i9-13900HK processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card.

TECNO says the system delivers up to 614 AI TOPS, with the graphics processor rated at 145W TGP and support for DLSS 4.

The water-cooling system is designed to help maintain performance when the machine is operating under sustained workloads.

The computer also includes 15 ports, including OCuLink and USB4, alongside Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.

Beyond gaming, TECNO is positioning the TAURUS as a compact machine for artificial intelligence workloads and other demanding applications.

Its design has previously received recognition from Yanko Design, which named it among its Best of MWC selections.

More concepts unveiled at IFA

The two award-winning products were not the only devices TECNO brought into the spotlight at IFA.

The company also showcased the Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone, featuring what TECNO describes as a 0mm bezel display, as well as the MEGABOOK T15 360 Pro convertible laptop.

Both are concept products rather than devices currently available for ordinary retail purchase.

That distinction is important for consumers because the technology shown at major trade fairs does not always make it into commercial products in exactly the same form.

For TECNO, however, such concepts provide a glimpse into the design direction the company is exploring as it looks beyond its established smartphone lines.

The latest awards also underline the company’s growing focus on products that combine hardware design with artificial intelligence, modular technology and compact computing.

For Kenyan consumers already familiar with TECNO through its Camon, Spark and POVA phones, the more immediate question will be which of these technologies eventually move from international showcases and concept products into devices available in the local market.
