A new opinion poll by Mizani Africa has placed Hon. Njeri Maina, the current Woman Representative for Kirinyaga County, as the overwhelming favorite in the county’s politics, commanding a remarkable 59.4 percent preference rating. This puts her far ahead of her closest competitor, Rose Wachira, who polled at 22.6 percent, with other contenders trailing in single digits.
The survey, released on September 9, 2025, asked residents who they would vote for if elections were held today. The results show that Hon. Maina’s popularity has surged, positioning her as a formidable force in Kirinyaga’s political landscape.
Beyond her performance in the polls, Hon. Njeri Maina has won admiration across the country for her outspoken defense of young people, particularly during the recent wave of youth-led protests. She stood firmly with the Gen Z movement, amplifying their voices in Parliament and advocating for their constitutional rights. Her most notable intervention came when she rallied legal and political support for detained protesters, successfully bargaining for the revision of their bail terms, ensuring their release and fair treatment.
This act of solidarity has significantly boosted her reputation among young voters, who view her as a bold and empathetic leader willing to stand with them in moments of crisis. For many in Kirinyaga and beyond, Njeri Maina represents a new generation of leadership that prioritizes accountability, inclusivity, and courage in public service.
Her growing approval rating also reflects her track record in addressing local issues, including empowering women and youth groups, supporting education initiatives, and advocating for development projects that directly impact ordinary citizens.
With nearly 60 percent of the electorate backing her, Hon. Maina is not only consolidating her base but also shaping the conversation on the role of women leaders in national politics. Her rise signals the increasing influence of leaders who resonate with the aspirations of Kenya’s youth and grassroots communities.
As the political tide continues to shift, Hon. Njeri Maina stands out as a trailblazer whose blend of activism and service has elevated her as one of the most dynamic women leaders in the country.
