Makueni, Kenya – Makueni County Woman Representative Hon. Rose Mumo continues to make a transformative impact in the lives of women entrepreneurs through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF). Her commitment to uplifting grassroots communities is clearly visible in the strides made by women artisans in Mbooni Constituency.
During a recent visit to the King’ong’i Community-Based Organization in Kisau/Kiteta Ward, the exceptional talent of women specializing in basket weaving was on full display. Their products, a reflection of Kenya’s rich cultural heritage, have the potential to compete in international markets.
Recognizing this potential, Hon. Rose Mumo, through her support for NGAAF, facilitated financial assistance for the group under the Value Addition Programme. The initiative empowers women to enhance product quality, adopt innovative techniques, and expand their market reach. This support is enabling them to scale their small hustles into viable businesses with lasting economic impact.
Hon. Rose Mumo’s leadership goes beyond financial assistance. She has consistently championed women’s empowerment, mentorship, and access to opportunities that allow them to grow their skills and build sustainable livelihoods. Her efforts are helping communities break cycles of poverty and encouraging a culture of entrepreneurship among women.
“This support is more than funding; it is a platform for women to thrive, to compete confidently in markets, and to improve their families’ lives,” said officials during the visit.
Thanks to Hon. Rose Mumo’s vision and dedication, NGAAF’s Value Addition Programme is already transforming lives in Makueni, proving that strategic interventions at the grassroots level can have far-reaching effects
