PS Charles Hinga Hailed for Expanding Affordable Homeownership Through KDF Mortgage Partnership
Nairobi – Principal Secretary for Housing and Urban Development Charles Hinga has been praised for spearheading a landmark partnership between the Government and KCB Group that will enable Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel to access affordable mortgage financing under the Civil Servants Housing Mortgage Scheme.
The partnership, formalised during a signing ceremony presided over by the Principal Secretary, is expected to significantly expand access to homeownership for military personnel by providing affordable financing to purchase homes, acquire residential plots, construct houses and complete ongoing housing projects.
Speaking during the event, Mr Hinga described the initiative as a major step towards improving the welfare of the country’s servicemen and women, noting that it reflects the Government’s commitment to providing practical and sustainable housing solutions for public servants.
The initiative is expected to bring the dream of homeownership within reach for thousands of KDF families while complementing the Government’s broader Affordable Housing Programme.
Observers have lauded Mr Hinga’s leadership, saying his commitment to forging strategic partnerships has accelerated the implementation of housing reforms and expanded access to affordable housing finance for Kenyans.
Under his stewardship, the State Department for Housing and Urban Development has continued to champion innovative financing models and public-private partnerships aimed at increasing homeownership, enhancing housing affordability and supporting the Government’s agenda of providing decent housing for all.
The partnership with KCB Group is expected to strengthen the Affordable Housing Programme by creating more opportunities for public servants to own homes while contributing to social and economic development through increased access to affordable housing.
