The Nairobi Kitwek Forum has sounded a national alarm over escalating political rhetoric, warning that key political leaders are actively scripting a dangerous rerun of the 2007 post-election violence ahead of the 2027 General Election.

​Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi, Kitwek Forum Chairman Bryan Chebii condemned what he termed the deliberate choreography of ethnic panic and political incitement.

Chebii forcefully dismissed recent claims regarding the mobilization of an organized “Nandi warriors” militia, labeling the narrative a fabricated lie designed to stir mistrust, fear, and ethnic profiling. He cautioned that such rhetoric mirrors the exact false narratives used prior to 2007, which ultimately devastated innocent citizens across the Kalenjin community and the broader nation.

​The forum took direct aim at political leaders invoking past national tragedies as electoral threats. Chebii strongly censured comments by DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, who declared that any electoral malpractice in 2027 would trigger chaos making the 2007 post-election violence look like a “Christmas party”.

Chebii described the remark as reckless and irresponsible, emphasizing that conditioning supporters to accept violence as a response to loss normalizes bloodshed and undermines democratic institutions.

He also flagged campaigns in Mount Kenya that profile dissenting leaders as “traitors,” warning that such language echoes the dangerous “41 against 1” narrative of 2007.

​Highlighting a growing culture of political impunity, Chebii criticized leaders who shield individuals accused of hate speech.

He singled out Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for defending Hon. Gakuchia following his arrest for divisive remarks, calling the defense a display of self-serving political hypocrisy that prioritizes narrow alliances over national security.

​To halt the rising tension, the forum issued demands to state agencies and regulators. Chebii called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to arrest authors of the “Nandi warriors” myth, investigate Kalonzo Musyoka for aiding impunity, and fast-track files on high-ranking inciters.

Furthermore, he urged the Media Council of Kenya to enforce a mandatory 7-to-10 second audio-visual delay on live political broadcasts to cut off hate speech before it reaches the public. Chebii closed by appealing directly to citizens to reject ethnic division, isolate warmongers, and safeguard the country’s peace
