A group of over thirty two young and old bycle riders both male and female have embarked on a mission dubbed: Ride For Arthritis whose aim is to create awareness about the eradication of arthritis disease in the country. Speaking in Nairobi on Tuesday morning as they set off on their second leg of their ride after a brief stopover in the City from Mombasa, the excited cyclists said that their number one mission is to create awareness among the communities concerning the silent killer disease. The 32 cyclists are drawn from Mombasa, Nairobi and Kisumu among other towns. ” We have one mission and our mission is to try and educate Kenyans about arthritis. We want people to know it’s just a disease like any other disease and it can be preventable. It is not witchcraft as many people believe”, said Mr. Moses Ogolla (aka DCI), the Chief Martial of Mombada Cyclists Association. The riders kicked off this mission in December 15th, 2024 in Malindi and are set for a grand finish on December went, 2024 in Busia. Flagging off the riders for their second leg after a brief stopover in Nairobi, the Regional Director for the E.A. World leading bicycle, Buffalo, Ms Mourine Kollenyo thanked the sponsors who helped to put in place the 5th edition whose primary focus is on health. ” We are a bicycle mobility solution organization and center in the front of ensuring that we create awareness to community specific to the bycle. We’re excited to join the 5th edition of this ride towards good health and eradication of arthritis”, she said. Among the 32 cyclists is Anthony Mugwanja a paracyclist who is also participating in this ride despite his visual impairment. ” I want to inspire hope….”, he said. The ambitious mission to ride for arthritis kicked off on Sunday December 15th, 2024 in Malindi and are set to for a grand finish in Busia county on December the 22nd, 2024. From Nairobi where their 2nd leg was flagged off by Mourine Kollenyo the Regional Director for ( E.A. ) for the World leading Bicycle Buffalo, they will be heading to Nakuru, Eldoret, Kitale, Kisumu and finally to Busia.
