Speaker Wakili Charles Thiongo OGW yesterday led the Kiambu County Assembly in celebrating a historic milestone as four staff members secured scholarships to pursue Master’s Programmes in leading universities in China. The scholarships were awarded through the Government of the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Finance and Commerce (MOFCO).

Under the stewardship of Speaker Thiongo, Kiambu County Assembly has emerged as a trailblazer, becoming the only county assembly in Kenya to benefit from this programme. Even more remarkable, it produced the highest number of beneficiaries nationwide, a clear reflection of the quality of staff serving under his leadership.

In his address, Speaker Thiongo hailed the development as a testament to the Assembly’s commitment to building human capacity and empowering its workforce. He emphasized that the scholarships will not only enrich the lives of the beneficiaries but also enhance the Assembly’s capacity to deliver superior services to the people of Kiambu.

“Our vision of making Kiambu County Assembly a premier and model county assembly in the country is well on course, firmly anchored on our mantra of transformative and impactful leadership geared towards offering optimal services to our people,” Speaker Thiongo OGW affirmed.

He further noted that the international exposure and advanced studies the staff will undertake will contribute to knowledge transfer, innovation, and stronger institutional performance upon their return.
