LSK Urged to Remain Firm in Crusade for Justice and Good Governance

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has been called upon to remain steadfast in its pursuit of justice and good governance as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen made the appeal during the groundbreaking ceremony for Wakili Towers, the LSK’s new headquarters, on Gitanga Road.
Murkomen praised the LSK for its vital role in protecting the rule of law and serving as a check on the government. He urged lawyers to play their part in ensuring Kenya remains a country governed by constitutionalism and adherence to the law. “The Law Society of Kenya has a very important role in our democracy, and the government is prepared to support it in ensuring that the rule of law is upheld,” Murkomen said.
The Cabinet Secretary also refuted claims that the government had shut the door on LSK, stating that his office is always open for dialogue. He emphasized the government’s willingness to support the LSK in its endeavors to promote good governance and uphold the rule of law.
The construction of Wakili Towers, a twin-tower project themed “Cementing 77 Years of Justice, Vision and Progress,” is expected to cost around Kshs. 1 billion. The project is seen as a symbol of the legal community’s commitment to justice and the rule of law.
LSK President Faith Odhiambo expressed her gratitude for the government’s support and reiterated the society’s commitment to promoting justice and good governance. The project is expected to be completed within two years and will provide a modern, functional space for advocates to work and engage with the legal community.
