Rose Wanja Thanks President William Ruto for Supporting Nairobi School Infrastructure Transformation, Says Legacy Is Built Through ServiceJuly 10, 2026
Nairobi – Nairobi School Board of Management School Infrastructure Committee Chairperson Rose Wanja has expressed gratitude to President Dr. William Samoei Ruto for supporting the transformation of Nairobi School through major infrastructure projects, saying the developments are a lasting legacy that will benefit generations of learners.
Speaking ahead of the school’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), Wanja said many new parents had been asking how the ambitious projects came to fruition, prompting her to share the journey behind the transformation.
She revealed that the process began in May 2023, when she and Board of Management Chair Madam Murigu met President Ruto to present Nairobi School’s infrastructure needs.
They requested government support to expand the national school and improve facilities so that more bright students from all 47 counties could access quality education.”I sincerely thank His Excellency President William Ruto for believing in our vision, listening to our request and entrusting me with the responsibility of keeping him updated on the progress of these projects over the last one and a half years,” Wanja said.
According to Wanja, the President remained personally engaged throughout the implementation of the projects.
She regularly shared progress reports and photographs with him, while he also made phone calls and impromptu site visits to inspect the works and ensure they met the required standards.
She also thanked State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito for believing in the vision and providing the opportunity to facilitate the President’s visit, noting that what started as a simple request eventually grew into one of Nairobi School’s most significant infrastructure transformation programmes.
As the former Chairperson of the Parents Association and now Chairperson of the Board of Management School Infrastructure Committee, Wanja said she has been privileged to work alongside the Parents Association, the Board led by Madam Murigu, Principal Caspal Maina, the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, and other stakeholders to deliver projects that will serve future generations. She noted that the experience had reinforced her belief that leadership is about creating opportunities that outlive those who serve.”When God gives you favour before kings, use it to benefit the community, not yourself.
Leadership is about creating opportunities that will outlive us,” she said.Wanja also acknowledged the contractor for employing residents from neighbouring communities, including Kangemi, Kibagare, Kangemi Flyover, Thiong’o Road and Uthiru, saying government projects should not only create infrastructure but also generate livelihoods.
She urged Kenyans to celebrate development while demanding quality workmanship and protecting public investments for future generations. While celebrating Nairobi School’s transformation, Wanja called for continued investment in schools across rural Kenya, saying every child deserves access to quality education and modern learning facilities regardless of where they come from.
She expressed appreciation to the Nairobi School Board of Management for believing in her leadership despite being its youngest member, saying teamwork and shared commitment had made the projects successful.Looking ahead, Wanja said she is eagerly awaiting the official commissioning of the school’s new dormitory
