Hon. Esther Passaris Champions Continental Unity and Action Against Afrophobia at Pan-African Parliament

Nairobi Woman Representative Hon. Esther Passaris has reaffirmed her commitment to promoting peace, unity and human dignity across Africa by backing two key motions at the Pan-African Parliament aimed at combating Afrophobia and preventing xenophobic violence on the continent.

Speaking during the parliamentary proceedings, Hon. Passaris emphasized that xenophobic violence does not begin with physical attacks but with the spread of misinformation, inflammatory rhetoric and hate speech, particularly on digital platforms. She called for stronger early warning systems, robust fact-checking mechanisms and greater accountability for individuals who incite hatred and division.

The legislator observed that Afrophobia is a continental challenge requiring a united African response rather than being viewed as a problem affecting individual countries. She urged African nations and institutions to work together in fostering tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among all communities.

Hon. Passaris further called on Africans to reject fear and division by embracing truth, solidarity and the enduring African philosophy of Ubuntu, which promotes shared humanity, compassion and collective responsibility. She noted that safeguarding peace and unity is essential for advancing the continent’s development, integration and shared prosperity.
