Kenyan retailer Naivas holds open day in Nairobi to strengthen supply chain, community ties

Leading Kenyan retail chain Naivas Supermarket hosted an open day at its Githurai 44 outlet in Nairobi on Saturday, aimed at strengthening relationships with local suppliers and customers under its “Naivas Ni Kwetu” campaign.

The event featured a Supplier Showcase designed to highlight local supply chain partners and give agricultural and commercial suppliers a direct platform to engage with consumers. Activations, promotional offers, and interactive sessions were also held to engage shoppers in the Githurai neighborhood.

Speaking during the event, Peter Mukuha Nyoro, branch manager of Naivas Supermarket Githurai branch, highlighted the importance of localized customer service and community engagement.

“Events like these allow us to connect directly with the residents of Githurai who support us daily, while ensuring that we deliver quality products that meet their everyday needs,” Mukuha said.

Josiah Mathai, operations manager at Naivas Supermarket, emphasized the role of supply chain partnerships in sustaining retail operations and supporting local enterprise.

“Our growth relies heavily on strong collaborations with suppliers who consistently provide fresh and high-quality produce. This showcase reflects our commitment to promoting local suppliers while offering value to Kenyan households,” Mathai noted.

According to company representatives, the Githurai 44 open day is part of a broader series of events planned across the country under the “Naivas Ni Kwetu” campaign. The initiative seeks to deepen community outreach, foster local enterprise partnerships, and support domestic market growth across Naivas’ retail network.

As one of East Africa’s largest retail networks, Naivas operates outlets across major urban and rural centers in Kenya, sourcing a significant portion of its inventory from local farmers and domestic manufacturers.
