Kenyan retailer Naivas marks 36th anniversary with support for children’s home

Leading Kenyan retail chain Naivas Supermarket marked its 36th anniversary on Saturday by reaffirming its ongoing partnership with Mogra Children’s Home, a local care facility dedicated to supporting vulnerable youth and children living with disabilities.

The retailer’s renewed commitment seeks to bolster care and resource provision for more than 650 children and young people currently residing at the facility. The beneficiaries range from infants to young adults, including children with special needs who require targeted physical and social care.

Located in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, Mogra Children’s Home operates as a shelter and sanctuary, offering protection, education, and holistic welfare services aimed at creating a safe and nurturing environment for orphaned and vulnerable youth. The center focuses on transforming young lives by facilitating educational opportunities and life skills development to prepare residents for independent adulthood.

Speaking on the initiative, Andreas von Paleske, Chief Executive Officer of Naivas Supermarket, emphasized the company’s commitment to social upliftment as an integral part of its anniversary milestones.

“As we celebrate our 36th anniversary, we extend our sincere gratitude to our suppliers, Naivas staff, and Friends of Naivas for their generous contributions, both monetary and in kind,” von Paleske said, noting that their support played an invaluable role in making the initiative possible.

He added that through this partnership, Naivas hopes to contribute meaningfully to the home’s mission of giving every child, regardless of ability or background, the chance to grow up in a safe and supportive environment.

The latest effort forms part of Naivas’ long-standing corporate social responsibility programs designed to give back to the communities that have anchored the company’s growth since its establishment. Over its 36 years of operation, the retail firm has systematically integrated community outreach into its commercial operations, focusing on social development and community empowerment across Kenya.

Founded 36 years ago, Naivas Supermarket has grown into one of the largest retail networks in East Africa, operating outlets across major urban and rural centers in Kenya. Company leadership noted that celebrations of commercial milestones will continue to be paired with community-focused initiatives designed to support disadvantaged populations across the nation.
