Kihumbuini MCA Moses Gachui Mungai Advances Youth Empowerment Through Murang’a Youth Service
Kihumbuini Ward MCA Moses Gachui Mungai has highlighted the importance of youth empowerment following the successful completion of the Murang’a Youth Service recruitment exercise across all four locations in the ward.
The exercise was conducted at Mukurwe Chiefs Camp, Mukarara Chiefs Camp, Kihumbuini Chiefs Camp and Kiunyu Chiefs Camp, providing young people across the ward with an opportunity to participate in the county government’s youth empowerment programme.
The initiative seeks to promote community service, instil discipline, nurture responsibility and encourage young people to take an active role in improving their communities.
Through the programme, recruited youths will undertake two months of fieldwork, during which they will contribute to community activities while gaining practical experience and developing a sense of civic responsibility.
Upon completion of the fieldwork, the County Government of Murang’a will sponsor the youths to acquire practical vocational skills at different training institutions across the county.
The training component is expected to equip participants with skills that can open doors to employment, self-employment and other economic opportunities, helping them build more secure futures.
For Kihumbuini Ward, the programme links community service with technical training and economic empowerment, giving young people an opportunity to contribute to local development while preparing for the job market.
MCA Moses Gachui Mungai has emphasised the importance of investing in young people, recognising their role in building a cleaner, safer and more organised society.
“Investing in our youth is investing in the future of our community,” the message accompanying the recruitment exercise stated.
The Murang’a Youth Service initiative also provides a platform for young people to participate in community improvement activities while developing discipline, teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility.
By combining two months of fieldwork with county-sponsored vocational training, the programme seeks to ensure that participants gain more than temporary engagement by equipping them with practical skills for their next stage of life.
The successful recruitment exercise across Mukurwe, Mukarara, Kihumbuini and Kiunyu marks an important step in extending the programme’s reach throughout the ward.
As the recruited youths prepare to begin their field assignments, the initiative places emphasis on service, skills development and responsibility as key pillars of youth empowerment.
Through continued investment in young people, Kihumbuini Ward is seeking to create opportunities that enable the next generation to contribute meaningfully to community development and pursue sustainable livelihoods.
