K- Boys from Kibera Estate were crowned the Directors Cup winners after edging out the well-drilled Lindi kings 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw at the line Saba grounds in Kibera over the weekend.
The winners pocketed sh.80,000 while the runners up walked away with sh.60,000.The third and fourth winners were also rewarded with 40,000 and 20,000 respectively.
Among the guests who graced the match included tournaments sponsor Thomas omollo who is the Director of savior kings Education centre,Kibera area Chief Shaban Juma,sports administrators,religious leaders,International missionaries such as Bruna from Brazil,Olivier(,mexico) and a one Paul from south sudan.
The tournament sponsor (Thomas Omollo) thanked participating teams for observing displine and showing team spirit in the tournament.He promised to make the tournament an annual event.
The tournaments theme was soccer for Unity and one of it’s major objective,was to foster unity, promote understanding,respect and tolerance through sports among other issues
The three month tournament brought together 16 teams from the heart of Kibera slums.
