DP Ruto leads poll ahead of August elections

A new opinion poll has put Deputy President William Ruto as the most preferred presidential candidate for the August elections.

According to Intel Research Solutions (IRS) CEO Karen Mwangi, the pair of William Ruto and Gachagua Rigathi would garner 53.1 percent of the votes if elections were held today.

Raila Odinga and Martha Karua would garner 42.7 percent of the votes cast.

George Wajackoyah and Justina Wamae polled 1.2 percent while David Waihiga polled 0.2 percent if the elections were held today.

The scientific research was conducted between 23-28 July 2022 with a sample size of 29,857 respondents across 47 counties.

The research polled the IRS database for respondents via SMS.

DP Ruto has consistently led the previous three polls conducted by the research firm.

Karen Mwangi said that Raila Odinga leads in Nairobi, Coast, Southeast and Luo Nyanza while DP Ruto leads in Mt. Kenya, Northern Kenya, rift valley and western zones.

Kenyan environmentalist leads river clean up

Kenyan environmentalists Ruth Tanui on Saturday led other environmentalists in a river cleanup exercise.

The Blue Climate Action Summit hosted by Ruth Tanui spearheaded an environmental Symposium which was attended by the youth environmentalists globally, both in-person and virtually.

The Blue Climate Action Summit is a summit created to support Planeteers around the world in taking Blue Climate Action. In collaboration with Planeteer Alliance, a program of the Captain Planet Foundation (US-based NGO); has the mission of engaging and empowering young people to be the problem-solvers for the planet.

Lily Tanui, who is also a recepient of the Society for Ecological Restoration Africa Award urged the government to enact laws that promote environmental conservation.

Kenya Azimio USA Chapter Diaspora on Tuesday sponsored the Baba Boda boda Brigade Project in partnership with the Kenya Bodaboda Association . This project was initiated by Mr. Boaz Ibarasa.
Mr.Boaz Ibarasa said that the exercise aims to increase turnout of voters in order to guarantee a first round victory for former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga.

He observed that Raila Odinga’s policies will uplift the lives of Bodaboda sector in Kenya.


As a representative from USA, New Jersey, New York and across California their main focus is adopting polling stations in order to protect Azimio votes in battlegrounds.


Kenya Azimio USA Chapter Diaspora also held a two day caravan in Kiambu county that moved across the county and mobilized voters for Azimio Coalition.

Kenyan Azimio USA Chapter Diaspora on Monday Sponsored the BaBa Boda Brigade Project in partnership with the Kenya Boda Boda Association.

This project was initiated by George Osewe chairman of the ODM North America.

Osewe led other Diasporas Representatives UK, Europe and USA who drummed up support for the BaBa Boda Boda project for the Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga.

He called for all BodaBoda business owners to be entitled for cheaper business loans.

Osewe said that he will support the Boda Boda sector with cheap insurance and partner with them to get more motorbikes at a cheaper rates.

Osewe urged the government to ensure the diaspora can vote in presidential polls.

He also emphasized the need for speedy renewal of passports for members of the Diaspora.

Osewe said that the diaspora community also needs a safe investments environment.

He also wished that the government protect dual citizenship.

Kenya Azimio Diaspora on Monday sponsored the BaBa Boda Boda Brigade Project in partnership with the Kenya Boda Boda association. This project was initiated by Bernard Kavyu from the Azimio global diaspora based in UK.

Bernard Kavyu led other Diasporas Representatives from UK, Europe and USA , who drummed up support for the Baba Boda Boda project for Azimio Presidential Candidate Raila Amollo Odinga .

He called for all bodaboda business owners to be entitled to cheaper loans for their business .

Bernard Kavyu emphasized the need for resource facilitation as well as voters mobilization across the diaspora.
They pledged to engage with more investors from UK, USA to invest into Kenyan market to enable the Azimio Coalition to meets it’s manifesto.
The members of the Diaspora urged the Ministry of foreign affairs to pick it’s members as it’s staff.

Patricia Omondi Representative from the USA also emphasised that Azimio Coalition should look into the protection of women living in diaspora since majority of them undergo suffering while outside the country.

Azimio South Africa chapter facilitates civic education in Nairobi to drum up support for Baba na Mama.

Elvis Mboya representative of Azimio South Africa Diaspora said that the exercise aims to increase turnout of voters in order to guarantee a first round victory for former Prime minister Raila Odinga.

He also supported the withdrawal of Raila Odinga from the presidential debate slated for the 26 July because they are not tackling integrity and corruption issues.

He also urged the chairman of the IEBC to ensure the upcoming elections are free, fair and transparent.

Mboya observed that the policies that Odinga will put in place will uplift the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

Aspiring Member of County Assembly (MCA) for the Lower Savanna ward on the ODM ticket under the Azimio Coalition David Magoba Odhiambo on Sunday addressed his supporters at the Soweto social hall in Embakasi East Constituency.

Magoba said that he will serve all the people without tribalism.


He pledged to focus on connecting more households to electricity.

“I will also solve the issue of sewer lines,” he added.

He decried the poor road network which he pledged to upgrade.

John Olwande calls for subsidies for seed sector

John Olwande for the Tegemeo Institute has called for agricultural subsidies to be directed towards the seed sector.

Olwande noted that high yielding seeds are the background of a thriving agricultural sector.

He noted that there are limited financial resources in the development of seeds for vegetatively propagated crops.

“We need subsidies to boost the informal seeds systems,” he added.
